Legend Biotech is seeking Payroll Officer as part of the Human Resources team based in Gent, Belgium.

Role overview

As payroll officer, you take the lead on payroll activities and guarantee good payroll management for the Belgian and Irish entities, in cooperation with the payroll provider and in line with legislative requirements, policies and procedures. You deliver HR services to Belgium and Ireland. From your expertise, you advise employees, management and HR colleagues in payroll, benefits and social law related inquiries and issues. You take the lead in administering all activities related to employee lifecycle processes, from hire to exit, and this in a consistent and accurate manner and in full compliance with defined standards and procedures. You play an active role in continuously improving our way of working and strive for operational excellence. Communication is extremely important; you serve as main point of contact with internal as well as external partners. You are someone who can plan and organize well, works independently, and has problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for maintaining and updating personnel administration and leads the administering of all activities within the relevant HR systems.
  • Is accountable for managing the time & attendance system and related employee self-service system, resolves issues within the systems and manages the settings within the system.
  • Supervises day-to-day payroll activities. Ensures independently a timely and accurate payroll processing in full compliance with relevant policies and procedures. Resolves payroll issues and discrepancies and communicates with and explains in-person or via phone/e-mail to affected individuals. Analyses errors that have occurred, identifies causes, formulates solutions.
  • Prepares monthly HR payroll reports and provides ad hoc reporting upon request.
  • Monitors changes in social, fiscal, and labor law and implements relevant changes into your day-to-day activities and systems, considering industry, company specific and/or individual agreements.
  • Is the main point of contact for employees and management for social law, payroll, and time registration related questions. Addresses and resolves employee complaints relating to the payroll system.
  • Participates and actively supports HR BP's and the Payroll & Benefits Manager in ad hoc projects related to payroll and HR systems & tools.
  • Collaborates in the onboarding and offboarding process from A-Z with the Junior HR Officer.
  • Works actively with the different departments to drive efficiency, effectiveness and deliver a superior employee experience.
  • Assesses existing procedures and improves/optimizes, takes initiative on drafting procedures.
  • Participates in internal and external payroll audits in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Payroll & Benefits Manager.

You will be part of the Payroll & Benefits team and report to the Payroll & Benefits Manager EU. You work closely with the payroll officer and HR officer and the broader HR team consisting of HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition and the HR Director.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a payroll function, preferably in a production environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Belgian social and labor legislation.
  • Good knowledge of commonly used Microsoft Office applications and good Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of eBlox, Protime and Workday is a plus.
  • Works independently, accurately and takes ownership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Is discrete and able to handle sensitive information.
  • Analytical mindset.
  • Eager to learn and willing to go the extra mile.
